$3 Million Added to the Obama Campaign

Another one of Oprah's ploys to say SHE DID IT FIRST. She invited 1,500 guest to her mansion for a fundraising even for Barak Obama. I haven't been actively engaged before because there hasn't been anything to be actively engaged in. But I am engaged now to make Barack Obama the next president of the United States, a visitor said she greeted the audience prior to the concert starring Stevie Wonder.

Guests were shuttled in eight miles to her mansion. While VIP guest, i.e. those who raised more than $2,300 drove up the the house. Guests who raised the most stayed for dinner. While the others ate mini-burgers, corn on the cob and quacamole and chips. However most guest simply saw Obama and Oprah from a distance.

The media was denied access and all guests were required to give up their cameras at the checkpoit. Celebs included Lou Gossett Jr., Cicely Tyson, Forest Whitaker, Ellen Pompeo, Sidney Poitier, Linda Evans, Tyler Perry, Chris Rock; Hill Harper, Babyface, Mr. & Mrs. Rodney Peete, Stedman Graham, radio personality Tom Joyner, sports legends Ernie Banks, Bill Russell and Dave Winfield, tennis great Jimmy Connors, and model Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber.

Barak Runs...

Obama officially announces he's running for president on Saturday. He is the youngest candidate in the upcoming primaries at 45 years old. However, Sen. Clinton is CURRENTLY dominating the polls. During his address from the state capital, where he was held a position for the past ten years, he stated that he is a staunch opponent of the Iraq was and the fact that he has a lack of political experience is an asset. “Let us transform this nation,” he told his audience during his campaign kickoff.

The Race IS On

Okay so I told you that I was going to find out some information on Barak Obama. I first went to his Congress based website to find out about the issues and his stands. And he stands for Iraq, Defense, Seniors, Crime, Environment, Homeland Security, Immigration, Education, Health Care, Veterans, and Ethics and Lobbying Form. I think this list and small descriptions were just basic for all senators.

So I went to Wikipedia. He is the fifth African American U.S. senator and currently the only African American in the senate right now. He is said to be the second choice for the democratic choice for president 2008 after Hilary R. Clinton. Obama was first elected into the Illinois State Senate in 1996 from Chicago’s 13th District in the south-side. Seven years later in 2003, he was named chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee after the Democrats regained control of the chamber. He also helped to author an Illinois Earned Income Tax Credit that aided lower income families, worked for legislation that would support residents who could not afford health insurance, AND he helped pass bills to increase funding for AIDS prevention and care programs.

However, in 2000, Barak lost his primary run for the U.S. House of Representatives seat to a former black panther and community activist, four-term incumbent Bobby Rush. Rush stated that “Obama had not been around the first congressional district long enough to really see what’s going on.?

Obama did not cease his efforts to make a change just because he lost an election. He went back to the Senate and authored a law requiring police to videotape interrogations for crimes that were likely to be punishable by the death penalty. He also supported legislation that required insurance companies to cover mammograms. In 2002, he ran unopposed. Why? Maybe the city of Chicago was content with the way he was running things.

One thing people have often said about Obama is that he can work with both Democrats and Republicans with no stresses. He builds coalitions. He has crossed over into the hip hop world fast and hard. People know the name but do you know the real Obama and how he got where he is. Why everyone knows his name? What he stands for?

Who is in support of Obama? Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL), Illinois State Comptroller Daniel Hynes, Oprah Winfrey, and actors George Clooney, Kristin Chenoweth, and Matt Damon. There are numerous hip hop heads that also are for Obama. But why? Do they know his background. I am all for Obama because of his prior stands. But honestly, will he be able to run a whole country?

I think he is getting a lot of experience now because he is focusing on the bigger topics in the country. He is trying to show his face in all communities. He’s going to Iowa, showing up at meetings with Luda, and appearing on Oprah. If that is not a braod spectrum then I don’t know what is. With those three stops, he’s almost hit everyone. Again like I say…TEAM OBAMA!!!

Let's Get It!

It's official! Barak Obama has filed the papers to start a presidency campaign staff for 2008! Let's go OBAMA! I'm excited. This is a part of history ladies and gentleman. We need to be focused on this, vote! I'm telling you a year and a half in advance! REGISTER! PLEASE! With Obama filing his papers he will now be able to receive financial support for his campaign which can become a little costly. Word is he will make his official bid on February 10, 2007. Miss class. Tell your instructor's to turn it on! This is our history. Shirley Chisolm and Jesse Jackson, much respect to them. But how many of us were there. How many of us remember? This is our history being made right now!

Be an active part of it. Take a stand. Research Obama. And if you don't you know I will. I just found out that he used cocaine back in his day. But you know what, he is not running on his past eventhough the MEDIA will portray him as a crackhead or something. Yeah, the media can be dirty. And its said to say race still plays a major part in politics. We are not choosing a president for his past. Because if I was looked at because of my past...GOD FORGIVE ME!

Anyhow, let's all stay positive with this election. Obama and Hilary Clinton. Hmmmm. Who do you think the democratic party will choose? We'll see. Because the next president may be in office for eight years! In eight years I'll be 26! And that's when stuff will matter. Not that it doesn't now but, you understand. I'll probably have a child or two by then. And I want a leader who is fair and ready to take some control and change some of Bush's mistakes.

Let's do it ladies and gentleman. If you don't stand for politics or don't want to get involved just try. Take a look see. The next post will be about some information and where Obama stands for. Once a week I'll try to do some type of political stuff. Even if it is not on Obama. To my friends of Facebook...let's mature in 2007. You say you're on your grown man and woman status...get there for real!

TEAM BARAK!!! HAHA
